Getting the ball rolling at the Cape Epic Prologue

Craig Kolesky and I kicked off our 2018 Absa Cape Epic campaign on Table Mountain on Sunday with the 20km time trial. With about 600m of climbing and the dry, dusty conditions it was always going to be super tough.

CK rode super strong early on and I struggled to keep up on some of the climbs, but did eventually manage to get my legs back. It’s often been said that you don’t ‘make’ your Epic on the prologue but you can very easily ruin it.

I’m stoked we stayed consistent and rode safe and with the field packed pretty closely (I think there is only something like four minutes on the GC between position 100 and 200) we are really looking forward at making up some time.

It’s a long Epic and it’s timed on a calendar, not a stop watch…

Tomorrow we tackle a 1ook loop around Robertson with 1900m of climbing:

FOR A CAUSE
This is Round 2 for Craig and myself at the Absa Cape Epic. Doing it for first time last year I learned so much about myself and it set the precedent for an incredible year ahead.

I wanted it to be the same this year, but mean even more. This year then, we will ride for a cause – @cancerassociationofsouthafrica. Everybody has been effected one way or another by this terrible disease, but it feels great to know that the funds we raise are going to help defeat it.

Along with our partners we have put together an incredible giveaway package to show our gratuity for all your donations! One ticket gets you one entry into the comp and you can enter as many times as you want… And trust me, the prizes are EPIC!

Hit this link to show your support. It’s much appreciated.
